Geneva Mayo Smith, age 74, of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015.She was born on January 8, 1941, in Fredrick, Oklahoma, the daughter of Silas Houston Eliott and Eva Odina McMillin Eliott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chicken Charlie” Smith on March 14, 2015; her parents; two sons, Lonnie Northcutt and Richard Mayo; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Mayo; two brothers, Gary Burkett and Roger Eliott; and one sister, Avis Jackson.
She was Baptist in her faith, diligently reading and studying her Bible daily. She was employed as a cook at the Lux Café in Glenwood and her family felt privileged that she loved to cook her wonderful meals for them. She also enjoyed camping, shopping, woodworking, particularly building beautiful furniture and a fun outdoor playset. Her greatest joy was having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her and will always be remembered as the clown of the family.
She is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joy and Johnny Lester and Jennifer and Scotty Freeman, all of Glenwood and Shirley Stroope of Gatesville, Texas; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Eliott of Dallas, Texas; her sister, Barbara “B.J.” Tyrrell of Glenwood; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2015, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Robbie Loudermilk officiating.
Visitation was held Tuesday evening, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Interment will be in the Black Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Josh Northcutt, Scott Freeman, Trent Freeman, Stephen Stroope, Johnny Lester and Sam Hood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scotty Freeman and Shannon Davis.
