Jay Hugh Thrower was born October 26, 1938 in Holly Springs, Arkansas to the late Ernest and Eugenia Thrower. He departed this life June 18, 2015 in St. Vincent Hospital, Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was a proud veteran having served three tours in the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal. He served thirteen years in the United States Army. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Michael (Betty) Thrower, Sr. of North Richland Hills, Texas and Alonzo Thrower of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, Thelma Johnson of Nashville, Erma (William) Lewis of Nashville, Savannah Schultz of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Edward Thrower of San Diego, California; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are his father and mother, Ernest and Eugenia Thrower; two sisters, Ernestine Shorter and Lorene Thrower; one brother, Lloyd Thrower.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Mauney Street Church of Christ, Murfreesboro. Burial will be at Sunset Gardens in Nashville. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
