HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Ouachita and Ozark-St. Francis National Forests managers have closed specific Forest Service recreation areas and campgrounds through the Memorial Day weekend because of inclement weather.

On the Ouachita National Forest, Wolf Pen Gap recreation area located near Mena, Ark.; Shady Lane Loop at Cedar Lake Recreation Area in Oklahoma; River Bluff Recreation Area and Fulton Branch Recreation Area, both near Mt. Ida, Ark., are closed until further notice.

The Haw Creek Falls recreation area and campground, on the Ozark-St. Francis National Forests, located northeast of Clarksville, Ark., will also be closed until further notice.

Before leaving home, remember to check the National Weather Service forecast and be alert for changing weather conditions while visiting the forest.

Rain is expected to continue over the holiday weekend and beyond, so it is important to be mindful of the chance that flash floods may occur. For more information on flash floods, visit the USDA Forest Service, Southern Region website at http://prst.co/5MX.
