DIERKS – Salary raises were discussed during Wednesday night’s meeting of the Dierks School Board.
Superintendent Holly Cothren proposed several salary changes for the 2015-2016 school year to the board. Cothren recommended a $500 raise to the certified pay salary, a $300 raise to the classified salaries and a $3,000 a year raise to the principals’ salaries. She also suggested raising the certified long term substitute pay to $150 a day. The motion to accept these salary changes passed unanimously.
The board also agreed on a one-time $500 end-of-the-year bonus for employees.
Later on in the meeting, following a brief executive session, the board resumed regular discussion with the decision to add three individuals to the substitute teachers’ list: Raisa Whistenhunt, Vanessa Thompson and Sharon Kesterson. Following the passage of that motion, the board considered hiring Barbara Ann Pate as a part time cafeteria worker and part time custodian. This motion passed as well.
Earlier in the meeting, the board considered student transfers. Cothren explained to the board that there were 25 students coming into the district, with five going out, creating a net gain of 20 students.
The group also reviewed and passed two separate motions for legal transfers from the Dierks School District.
