A familiar landmark on Highway 270 East has a new look and a new healthier attitude thanks to recent renovations at the Old Country Store located at Marilyn’s RV Park.
Owner Marilyn Farley opened the store in 1991 while living in Hot Springs with the RV park added later.
The store had become known as a must stop for traveling antiquers and curio enthusiasts and still is home to one of the most eclectic selections in this part of Arkansas.
Marilyn stated that she wanted to offer more to the community and felt that what the area needed was a place that provided healthier food and supplement choices.
This winter she remodeled the country store to make room for a full line of health food choices. She now carries a variety of gluten free products that caters to just about everybody’s needs. She joked that someone had recently asked for a gluten free pizza mix which she didn’t have.
“I guess I am going to have to find that one.” she joked.
She also has a line of organic products and essential oils. She carries a line of jellies and jams, as well as Arkansas grown honey.
Marilyn admits that she likes Arkansas products and although not everything she offers is Arkansas grown, she tries to carry as many as she can.
She is in the process of setting up some coolers so she can carry some grocery products including Petit Jean meats. She will also have produce for sale as it becomes available.
She added that a lot of people camping on Lake Ouachita need somewhere close to buy groceries and she hopes they consider the Old Country Store.
“I want to invite everyone to come out and sit on the porch and rock in a rocking chair and just visit and shop.” she stated as she talked about her store.
The store is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. If you have questions you can call (870) 867-0168.
