National Day of Prayer event sceduled for Montgomery County

day of prayerResidents of Montgomery County will join other Americans Thurs., May 7, at 12 p.m. in a time of national prayer as part of the 64th annual National Day of Prayer.

According to nationaldayofprayer.org, the theme for this year is “Lord, hear our cry.” The emphasis will be the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men. To further highlight this theme, organizers have chosen I Kings 8:28 as a focus Scripture for this year “Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day.”

Locally, county residents will gather at the Montgomery County Courthouse Square in Mount Ida at 12 p.m. to join in prayer.

Speakers will include Dr. Bill Mizell, Medical Director at Quapaw House in Hot Springs, and Montgomery County Sheriff David White.

Joining the quest speakers will be a variety of musicians performing inspirational music.

According to nationaldayofprayer.org, Dr. Jack Graham, the 2015 honorary chairman, wrote a special prayer to be read simultaneously throughout the nation at 12 p.m.
