A Nashville organization is gathering signatures on petitions to put ‘wet-dry’ on the ballot in Howard County.
The organization, Developing Entertainment for Howard County, emphasizes that they are not taking sides on the issue of alcohol sales, but are giving citizens a chance to sign a petition to put the question to voters.
The first two places to sign the petition were Smoker Friendly, 401 S. Main, Nashville; and Nashville Truck Plaza, 407 Hwy. 27S. Bypass, Nashville. The latter site is open 24 hours a day.
Other canvassing sites announced since then include Poblano’s Mexican Cafe, and Futrell Marine, both in Nashville, and the Topiary at Spring Hill
Farm, located near Nathan.
There may be other signing places announced in the future.
Signers must be able to match the address they list on the petition sheet to their actual voter registration address, otherwise the signature will be disqualified.
Two of the petition drive volunteers are Gail Hearnsberger and Jessica Delozier, both of whom said that about 3,300 signatures is the goal. Delozier said that the group hopes to have the signatures done more than 90 days before the Nov. 2026 General Election.
