Joan Rea Kepple, 89, of Murfreesboro passed away from this life Sunday, No. 2, 2025, in Murfreesboro. She was born July 25, 1936, in Newcastle, Texas, the daughter of the late Morris and Bessie Copeland Guinn.
Our mom was a devoted wife, mother, but more than that she was a very devoted Christian. She led us by example. She was active in many areas of the church, but her favorite was helping others. She was known as the “hostess with the mostest” and loved to welcome new people. She was an artist/craftsman by trade. She loved bringing Disney and SEC mascots to life with her painting skills. When not doing that, she loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, her brother Jerry Guinn, a sister Barbara Prather and great-grandson Shepp Akers.
Joan is survived by her three children Chris Sharp (Terri), Monte Sharp (Connie), and Missy Cox (Tony), her grandchildren Kara (Jonathan), Chloe (Dylan), Hunter (Kristen), Paige (Will), Trent (Lacey), Nathan (Maddison), Justin, and 12 great-grandchildren. Joan has many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she also loved very much. She is also survived by sister Gloria Alewine, brother-in-law Will Prather and sister-in-law Paula Guinn.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, at First Christian Church in Murfreesboro.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7, at First Christian Church in Murfreesboro, with Alan McRae, Darwin Turner, and Brian Doyle officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
A special thank you to Murfreesboro Nursing Home Staff for the great care and love shown to our mom. And also to Elite Hospice for all you did to help us through.
