Christmas season is officially underway in Nashville and the Nashville Chamber of Commerce is ready, according to NCC Executive Director Tim Pinkerton.
The chamber’s shop-local campaign “Shopping Small Pays Big” is already underway and will run through Dec. 19.
Pinkerton said during the campaign if someone purchases from your business in the amount of $25 or more and they wish to be eligible to be reimbursed for that purchase (up to $100), either duplicate their receipt or write their name, phone number and amount of purchase on a slip of paper and drop it in a receptacle of your choice.
On Dec. 19, participating businesses will bring their receptacles to the chamber of office where chamber officials will draw 10 receipts and “pay back” those receipts to the purchasers. Any individual purchaser will only be eligible for one reimbursement, according to Pinkerton.
The NCC will also present the annual Christmas Parade on Monday, Dec. 1 with a theme of “Let It Glow.”
“We really want to light up the town this season,” Pinkerton said, adding that parade entires are encouraged to “use lots of lights.”
Line-up will be at 4:45 in Scrapper Arena parking lot and entries are asked to enter the lot from Mount Pleasant Drive to keep the line-up headed in the right direction.
There will be monetary prizes for in the categories of religious, non-religious and non-float entries (such as truck, ATV, etc). The parade will start rolling at 5:30.
It’s also time to purchase the NCC’s Christmas trees that line Nashville’s Main Street during the holiday season. The trees will be in place at the start of next week and the big Christmas tree is set to be installed in the vacant lot next to Diamond Bank.
Pinkerton said the trees can be purchased for $35 with some smaller trees available for $25. The goal is to have all the trees decorated and ready for the Dec. 1 parade.
To add to the holiday festivities, the chamber of also sponsoring a business holiday decorating contest. The contest is open to all businesses and will included two divisions – large (10 or more employees) and small (less than 10 employees).
The winner in each category will receive a traveling trophy to be held for one year then passed on to the next year’s winners.
