Jerry Richard Mullen, 87, of Newhope, Ark., passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, in Dierks.
He was born March 11, 1937, in Athens, Ark., to the late Virgil Haywood Mullen and Thelma Octavia Stokes Mullen. He was married to the late Marie Harrison Mullen and then to Judy Oglesby Mullen. He was a cattle farmer and served his country in the United States Army. He owned and operated Mullen Construction for 30+ years. Jerry enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Rondal Mullen and his wife Teresa; grandson, Rondal Thomas Mullen and wife Misty, great-grandchildren, Kinsey, Jaxon, Avery and Thomas Graham; his brother, James Mullen and wife Rhonda; and sisters, Juliet McMellon and Barbara Mitchell; nieces and nephews, Mike McMellon, Judy Crawford, Suzann Faulkner, Amanda Strasner, Bryce Mitchell, Jared Mitchell, Carolyn Taylor, Leann Gonyea, Christy Thrailkill, Amy Rose. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Marie and Judy Mullen, a granddaughter, Jessica Octavia Mullen and brothers-in-law, Wayne McMellon, and William Harold Harrison.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Beasley Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with Bro. Bryce Mitchell officiating. Interment follows in the Athens Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday evening, Oct. 3 from 5-7 p.m. at the Beasley Wood Chapel.
Pallbearers will Kaden Strasner, Ashton Strasner, Riley Faulkner, Wes White, Corey McMellon, Jared Mitchell, and Greg Davis.
