MURFREESBORO — The Crater of Diamonds State Park has announced their “Shine like a Diamond” gemstone drawing promotion.
This weekend, on Saturday, June 17, the Crater of Diamonds State Park near Murfreesboro will host a special litter cleanup and drawing during the park’s 7th Annual Prospectors’ Gemboree event.
Visitors to the park who pick up litter in the search area from 8 to 10 a.m. will be entered into a drawing for two prizes, including a round brilliant cut 22 point diamond and an oval cut 1.50 ct. rhodolite garnet, donated by Jeanine’s Fine Jewelry of Murfreesboro.
Prizes are awarded “as is” and may not be substituted for an alternative prize or monetary value.
Contest is open to any visitor who purchases admission to the diamond search area and registers for the drawing by 10 a.m. on June 17.
Participants must register in the visitor center between 8 and 10 a.m. on June 17 to receive a trash bag and be entered into the drawing. All trash bags must be turned in by 11 a.m.
The drawing will be held immediately following the Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest at 2:45 p.m. Participants must be present to win.
The Gemboree festivities will include family games and prizes, an exciting treasure hunt in our 37.5-acre diamond search area, plus more surprises to be announced. A complete schedule of activities may be picked up at the park visitor center on the day of the event.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., don’t miss the 11th Annual Famous Crater Diamonds Exhibition, at the Diamond Discovery Center. Meet Crater diamond finders and collectors, and hear the stories “behind the finds” during this rare display of diamonds found in Arkansas.
All Prospectors’ Gemboree games and activities are free with purchase of mine admission ($10 for ages 13 & up; $6 for ages 6 – 12; ages five and under are free).
