MURFREESBORO—The City of Murfreesboro hired a new police officer Wednesday, June 24.
According to Murfreesboro Police Chief Randy Lamb, Obie Laurent will begin working for the city around the beginning of July. Laurent is currently an officer for the City of Prescott and was previously an officer for the City of Murfreesboro from January 2005-January 2006.
Lamb said the decision came after a meeting between himself, Murfreesboro Mayor Rodney Fagan and Murfreesboro Police Commissioners Dana Stone and Rob Evans. He said that Laurent had the most seniority of all applicants for the position.
