Viola Mae Carter Ryan, 89 of Nashville, formerly of Pico Rivera, Calif., died March 4th, 2017.

She was born Jan. 16, 1928, in West Liberty, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Wava Stanley Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years and 11 months, William Ryan; a son, Donald Ryan; her parents; a sister, Marilyn Shelby; a sister-in-law, Mildred Campbell; a daughter-in-law, Linda Ryan; and a grandson, Jeffery Allen Ryan. She moved to Nashville in 1986. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Her faith was a very important part of her life. She shared her faith with everyone she knew.

She is survived by: two sons and daughter-in-law, William Ryan Jr., Edward and Jean Ryan; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Yvonne and Lowell Ackley, all of Nashville; a brother-in-law, Donald and Sally Ryan of Tempe, Ariz.. Also, eight grandchildren: William Ryan III and Terri, Scott and Jenny Ryan, Marilyn and Bill Hockaday, Tim Ackley, Michelle and Jon Webb, Rick Ryan all of Nashville; Edward Ryan, Jr. of Whittier, Calif., Christy and Juan Rodriguez of Troup, Texas. Fifteen great-grandchildren: Katie and Brett Little of Hot Springs, Billy Ryan, Lyndsay Hockaday of Conway, Blake Hockaday of Fayetteville, Tim and Kelsey Ackley of Savanna, Ga., Kristin Ackley, Jennifer Ackley, Ashleigh Lemons, Christian Davis, Erica Ryan, Alyssa Ryan, all of Nashville; J.J. Ryan of Hot Springs, Alex Rodriguez of Troup, Texas, and Eddie Ryan, III of Whittier, Calif., and Jacob Caballero of Colorado. Three great-great-grandsons, Wyatt and Liam Ackley and Payton Lemons. Two nieces and 7 nephews. A large host of other family and friends as well.

Services will be Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 1 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Nashville with Rev. Terry Goff and Rev. Calvin Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.
