George Eugene Turner, 83, of Atlanta, Ga., died Jan. 12, 2017.
He was born in the Schaal community May 23, 1933, to the late Edd Turner and Lubertha White Turner.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan and Georgia Southern University. He was a former IRS agent and was retired from IBM. He was a member of Hoosier Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta where he had served as financial chairman.
Survivors include: his wife, Leora, and six children: Christopher, Royce, Edith, Darryl, Edward and Rodney; also, sisters Janie Gardner, Velma Clay and Faye Williams.
Funeral services were held at Hoosier Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta, with Rev. Gary Dean officiating. Burial was in Lincoln Cemetery, Atlanta.
