The Scrappers will travel to Fountain Lake Friday night for a District 7-4A contest against the Cobras. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.

Fountain Lake enters the game with a record of 0-4, including a loss in last week’s District 7-4A opener against Joe T. Robinson.

The Cobras are averaging 18 points per game on offense while giving up 35 points per game.

Coach Mike Volarvich said Fountain Lake “graduated a lot of seniors. They’re a young team. They were good last year and played us within 1.”

In last year’s win over the Cobras, “Our offense didn’t play well. We had some busted assignments. I feel better about this year’s offensive group,” Volarvich said.

Fountain Lake “causes problems for teams out of the Wing T. Robinson only had 27 snaps last week, but they had 1 and 2-play scoring drives. Fountain Lake was able to score 18 on them,” according to Volarvich. The Cobras “were able to control the ball some and try to control the clock.”

For the Scrappers (4-0, 1-0), the trip to Garland County is only the second road game of the season. “We’ve only been 30 minutes away so far” at Hope, Volarvich said.

“We’ve got to go there. We’ve been on a good home stretch. Now we have to get back to traveling. It’s always hard to win on the road. We have to get mentally ready,” Volarvich said.
