Mount Ida’s newest getaway vacation spot is Bear Den Cabin near Lake Ouachita.
The spacious log cabin is located just outside Mount Ida on Wildlife Lane. The three bedroom cabin sleeps eight and includes all the comforts of home while allowing you to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The cabin, which is owned by M&Q Investments, sits in a beautiful location at the foot of one of Ouachita Mountains’ beautiful peaks. It is located six minutes from Twin Creeks Landing on Lake Ouachita and is a few minutes from several of the area’s crystal mines.
Co-owners Eugene Qualls and David Merritt built the cabin themselves and have had them open for business since Memorial Day weekend.
Merritt stated that he wanted to build the cabin to provide a nice getaway for people and to give his wife and he a place to get away to as well. He admitted that since opening the cabin for rental it hasn’t been empty enough for he and his wife to enjoy very often.
The cabin comes ready to sleep in with everything but food provided. The upstairs loft houses two beds and half bath, while downstairs there are two bedrooms and a full bath. The kitchen and living area is also located downstairs complete with a large fireplace.
One of the best features of the cabin is the view from the deck. The deck runs the length of the cabin and faces south toward the Ouachita Mountains.
The pair plan to build additional cabins in the area, providing more opportunities for getaways, vacations, family reunions, or business retreats.
