“Our team has worked very hard and has overcome many barriers to be able to train this summer,” Short said.

“With all of the construction going on the area, our athletes have worked out in the park, at Rehab Specialists, Mineral Springs track, team members’ houses and my house. We’ve had fun doing it. It’s been a great summer. My husband and I are proud of every athlete that has come to train this summer. This group has been very strong both mentally and physically. This experience will be priceless.”

More than 6,000 athletes will compete at this event, and there are numerous college scouts looking for talent, Short said.

Athletes from all 16 regions will participate in an Olympic walk as well as meet and greet during opening ceremonies on Tuesday night, July 25.

“You can watch the entire event live streaming on USATF.TV,” Short said
